This cabochon was made by my partner and wire wrapped by me using Argentium silver, which is more pure in silver than sterling, and far more tarnish resistant. Nipomo Agate is found and was initially described in Nipomo, California. The brilliant coloration comes from marcasite and pyrite inclusions, and the stone is also known as marcasite agate.
This is a rare find that was carved out of a piece of rough rock found in an old collection. Nipomo Agate mining areas have been closed for more than 40 years, and it's a special event to come across some of this beautiful material.
