Randy "The Big Unit" Johnson was a fearsome pitcher who made even the bravest of hitters bail out of the box or take half-hearted cuts at sliders or 97-plus mile per hour heat. Johnson had a penchant for shutting down the Yankees in relief (see his performance in game 7 of the 2001 World Series) after they thought he was taking an "off-day" following a dominant start a few days earlier. This "Mariners Playoff Payoff" Bruce Becker lithograph captures the first time that the long-haired lefty had taken on the Yankees in the playoffs. Under two days after he went seven complete innings he pitches the 9th, 10th and 11th innings and shuts down the Yankees until Edgar Martinez hits a double to score Ken Griffey Jr. and win the ALDS.
